Ladies demand equal player welfare rights

CAMOGIE players and ladies footballers have called on the Government for equality of treatment in respect of the dispersal of the Government’s player-welfare funding.
Ladies demand equal player welfare rights

Helen O’Rourke, chief executive of the Ladies’ Gaelic Football Association said the organisation welcomed the agreement by the GAA and GPA to disperse the proposed Government funds among GAA players to improve player welfare.

However, she said the Association would like the Government to take into consideration the player welfare of those involved in Ladies Football and Camogie, who are not included in this initiative.

“Players involved in both female GAA codes at elite level have the same training and work commitments as their male counterparts and this fact should be recognised by the Government in relation to any proposed player-welfare scheme,” she commented.
