Although 19 teams were eligible to enter in the tournament’s inaugural year, only four accepted the invitation to extend their season.

GAA President Seán Kelly has met with a number of counties about competing in the tournament this year and claims to have a received a more positive response.

“We’ll try and have games on Saturday nights to leave Sundays free for the clubs. We will also play games home and away so both teams won’t have to travel,” said Kelly. “There is great commitment to it among the counties. They see it as a great avenue for them to make progress.”
