McCarthy pays tribute to Crowe

Crowe, from the Clonlara club, was on the team which won the 1977 League final against Kilkenny. Living in Kilkenny, he was the Chief Agricultural Officer in Carlow.

Famously he scored a vital goal in a memorable Banner triumph, when he prevented Noel Skehan from clearing a ball. “It was so important in showing that we could break down the Kilkenny defence,’’ said McCarthy, coach to the team, which was managed by Fr Harry Bohan.
