Club complaint over assault

WEXFORD hurling club Oylegate-Glebrien, which is home club to county chairman Sean Quirke, are demanding a full investigation into an assault on one of their players during the weekend.

Club complaint over assault

The incident occurred in their SHC first round replay against Enniscorthy Shamrocks at Monamolin on Saturday evening when Thomas Walsh was struck at the final whistle.

“It was an absolute disgrace that a player should be assaulted in this manner on a playing pitch. He went to offer the hand of friendship but instead was the victim of an assault,” a spokesman for the club said. “We are not prepared to tolerate this and will be asking Wexford GAA to take whatever action is necessary.”
