Major blow for Roscommon as Dolan dropped

ROSCOMMON’S hopes of success this season have suffered a serious setback with the news that key forward Frankie Dolan has been dropped from Tommy Carr’s panel for disciplinary reasons.

Major blow for Roscommon as Dolan dropped

The decision to cut the talented St Brigid’s player from the county panel comes just three weeks after he had returned to training. His absence will considerably lessen the side’s scoring threat as they look to escape from Division Two of the National League and capture a Connacht title.

Dolan was one of four senior players Carr did not include in his early season panel some months ago. The ex-Dublin manager explained at the time that all four needed a break to recharge the batteries.

The other three are now back involved.

Francie Grehan returned to training at the start of the month and was in superb form in Roscommon’s draw with Liam Hayes’ Carlow last Sunday at Dr Cullen Park.

Stephen Lohan is also back on board but a broken bone in his foot will keep him out for four more weeks.

Nigel Dineen is also back training and is believed to be closing in on a return to action.

Roscommon have started their Division 2A season slowly, drawing their two games with Clare and Carlow, although Carr hasn’t been helped by a spate of injuries in recent months.
