Dublin and Tyrone players lodge appeals

ALL seven players from Dublin and Tyrone have appealed the suspensions imposed by the Central Disciplinary Committee arising out of their investigation of the incidents in the February 5 NFL between the counties in Omagh.

The appeals - from Dublin's Ciaran Whelan, Bryan Cullen, Kevin Bonner and Alan Brogan, and Tyrone's Michael Magee, Owen Mulligan and Kevin Hughes - have been lodged on an individual basis, with the knowledge and support of team officials. However, neither County Board is appealing the €10,000 fine imposed on each of them.

At Saturday's Central Council meeting Tyrone Secretary, Dominick McCaughey, and Dublin delegate, Gerry Brady, formally apologised on behalf of their counties for the incidents.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte accepted last night that it was difficult to anticipate a situation where any or all of his suspended players would be free to play in next Sunday's game against Cork in Omagh.
