Board to discuss punch incident

WEXFORD GAA officials are considering their response to an incident in yesterday’s O’Byrne Cup game in which one of their players was allegedly punched in the face by a member of the Dublin management team.

Board to discuss punch incident

“I’m not certain who it was, but he came on to give instructions to Tomas Quinn,” explained the Wexford player in question, corner-back Colm Morris. “I was keeping close to them and he gave me a box in the chin. I didn’t know him myself but I was told (who he was).”

The incident was witnessed by an umpire and brought to the attention of referee Gabriel McKenny. His only action was to approach the Dublin bench and talk to manager Paul Caffrey.
