St Breckan’s too strong for Cratloe
Lissycasey hammered St Joseph’s Doora-Barefield 1-16 to 0-3. Leading by nine points to one at half-time, the winners’ captain and former inter-county star Martin Daly hit 1-8.
At Quilty, Liscannor and Kildysart fought out an exciting draw (2-6 to 1-9).
At the interval Liscannor held a 2-5 to 0-3 advantage, but the club from the fishing village could only manage one point in the second-half and had to withstand a spirited Kildysart resurgence.
Last year’s beaten finalists Eire Óg of Ennis accounted for Shannon Gaels on a final scoreline of 2-11 to 1-5 at Kilmihill. The Gaels lead by four points to two after half an hour, but were reduced to fourteen men early in the second-half when Brian Bermingham was sent off.
Eire Óg’s Stephen Hickey finished with 1-5.
In the second match at Kilmihil, St Senan’s Kilkee, champions two seasons ago, easily saw off the challenge of neighbours and rivals Doonbeg by 0-9 to 0-4.
Cooraclare made their exit from the championship last night, losing 0-11 to 1-7 to O’Curry’s against all odds. They now take on Doonbeg for a place in the quarter-finals.
Cooraclare were in the driving seat at the interval leading 1-4 to 0-5 thanks to a Michael Kelly goal.
However Ger Quinlan’s performance at midfield paid dividends and a well taken free from James Troy who found the range twice in the second half, proved to be the winning score.
County and Munster champions Kilmurry Ibrickane beat St Joseph’s Milltown 1-9 to 0-8.
Kilmurry led 1-4 to 0-4 at the break with Odhan O’Dwyer finding the net after 12 minutes.
It took Milltown all of 18 minutes to open their account with an Eoin Curtain ‘45, which was followed by two from Dessie Molohan scores and another Curtain point.
However the champions held on with to qualify for the quarter finals with a four point winning margin.
