O’Neill bows out of the Olympics

Darren O'Neill has lost his middleweight bout in the last-16 of the Olympics.

Stefan Hartel of Germany outclassed O'Neill by 19 points to 12.

O’Neill was right in there after the first round trailing 6-4.

However, the Kilkenny man was taken apart by his opponent in the second round and was down 14-8 at the bell.

O'Neill pushed hard in the closing stages but it wasn't enough and it was the German who advanced to the next round of the competition.
