Hamilton tops timesheets in Nurburgring

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton again topped the timesheets in this morning's final practice session for the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, two-tenths of a second faster than Renault's Fernando Alonso.

The world champion set the pace for most of the session, finally lapping his modified MP4-24 in 1m 31.121s. Alonso managed 1m 31.340s before spinning in Turn Four trying to improve on that.

In their wake, Felipe Massa took his Ferrari round in 1m 31.351s to head the Red Bulls of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber (1m 31.542s and 1m 31.610s respectively). Then came Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen (1m 31.615s), Toyota's Jarno Trulli (1m 31.620s), the Williams of Nico Rosberg (1m 31.690s) and Kazuki Nakajima (1m 31.731s) and BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld (1m 31.928s).

Jenson Button lapped in 1m32.009s for 11th place, while Rubens Barrichello lost 40 minutes with a hydraulic problem and was 14th with a lap of 1m 32.124s.

Berween them came Toyota's Timo Glock (1m 32.022s) and Force India's Adrian Sutil (1m 32.104s), and behind, Giancarlo Fisichella (1m 32.135s) in the second Force India, Renault's Nelson Piquet (1m 32.223s), Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi (1m 32.239s), BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica (1m 32.269s), McLaren's Heikki Kovalainen (1m 32.742s) and Sebastien Bourdais (1m 32.883s) in the remaining Toro Rosso.
