Lewis-Francis keeps level head
Sprinter Mark Lewis-Francis insists he will not be jumping the gun by looking further than his next race when he competes in the 100 metres in the Olympics next month.
The Birchfield Harrier will compete in his first Olympics after turning down a chance to run in Sydney four years ago to concentrate on the World Junior Championships, from which he emerged with the 100m title.
He pulled up injured in the Commonwealth Games final when seemingly poised to overtake eventual winner and current world champion, Kim Collins, before crashing out of the World Championships in the semi-final last year.
However, he is mature enough to keep his feet on the ground when looking ahead to Athens and told Sky Sports: “I have got to think about it and do it round by round and then think about the gold medal. Every race to me is going to be a final."
