Rossi fit to race at Donington
Valentino Rossi has been given the green light to race in Sunday's British Motorcycle Grand Prix at Donington Park after passing a medical.
The reigning world champion and runaway series leader of the World MotoGP series shrugged aside injuries sustained in his crash during free practice on Friday.
Rossi, who had taken a battering as he high-sided off his Honda, was in pain from a minor break to his left thumb but he was quickly on the front-running pace in the morning free practice session.
The 23-year-old London-based Italian, the winner of six of the seven races so far, put in a best lap time of 1minute 32.576seconds, fifth fastest as he prepares for the 100th Grand Prix ride of his career.
Rossi, bidding for a 20th victory in the sport's elite class, promises better things in the afternoon final grid deciding session, confident he can make up the third of a second he trails Alex Barros, the Brazilian rider who tops the practice leaderboard.
