Butler signs for Wolves for £1m

Irish international Paul Butler has completed his £1m switch from Sunderland to Wolves.

The central defender, who has not played for Ireland since the 3-2 friendly win over the Czechs last year, passed a medical last night and has signed a three-and-a-half year deal.

Butler, 28, impressed during a five-game pre-Christmas loan spell at Molineux, but a permanent move was put on hold with the sacking of Colin Lee.

However, with the appointment of Dave Jones as new boss, the transfer was quickly concluded.
