Ferguson set to face Spurs at Goodison
Striker Duncan Ferguson will be available for selection for Everton's game against Tottenham following an incident in which he fought off two burglars at his home.
The incident happened at the weekend, and one youth was still in hospital today after the fracas near Ormskirk, Lancs.
Ferguson also suffered a minor injury but did not need hospital treatment.
Kevin Dooley, Ferguson's friend and solicitor, read a short statement at Everton's Goodison Park ground.
It said: "Duncan Ferguson is understandably very concerned about events of the early hours of Sunday morning.
"Thankfully there was no serious injury suffered by his wife, baby or himself.
"He will be available for selection on Saturday next for the game against Tottenham Hotspur."
Alan Myers, communications manager at Everton, said everyone at the club was "extremely relieved to hear that Duncan Ferguson and his family are safe and well".
He added: "Due to legal reasons there is very little the club can add other than to say we are quite content to leave the matter with the Lancashire police who have responded to this incident in an exemplary fashion."
