John Kiely's dog didn't produce his quickest break last time out but he had the speed to lead between the turns. That will be the key to winning tonight's race and if he can make the bend in front of Splendid Joy he should be able to repel the challenge of that rival.
The finish of the Curraheen S1-S2 should involve semi-final winners Parchments Mal and Vedfield Emperor and, whichever breaks best, will most likely come out on top.
Vedfield Emperor showed what he is capable of when breaking really smartly and leading all the way last time but Parchments Mal bounced right back to his very best last week. There's really very little to separate the pair and the draw may appear to swing it in Vedfield Emperor's favour but Dermot Lehane's Parchments Mal has that edge in terms of experience and is the percentage call to break in front and make all.
The second race probably isn't the most tempting betting heat of the night but there could be some value in siding with Rockybay Panther to score for Kieran Lynch. There's a lack of early pace in this contest and that could provide a real opportunity for the selection to get clear early.
He will need to build up a healthy advantage as shortcomings in his stamina - if they exist - could be exposed by any one of a number of his strong-staying rivals. With only nine runs under his belt, however, he has the scope for further improvement and he can make all and see off the fast-finishing On His Toes.
