Byrne dismay at finishing 11th

IRELAND’S Eilish Byrne placed 11th of 18 competitors in the first of three competitions at the Paralympics in Hong Kong yesterday.

The Armagh-based 44-year-old scored 62.818% from the judges with her 12-year-old Dutch-bred gelding Youri in the Grade II individual championship.

Byrne said: “I did try my best, but Youri was on and off the contact the whole time and it felt awful.”
