Andersen sets NFL bar with 2,500 points
The 45-year-old from Copenhagen in Denmark reached the mark by kicking a 36-yard field goal with 3:24 remaining in the second quarter against Carolina. In doing so he stretched his all-time NFL scoring standard.
Andersen, in his 25th NFL season, had made 14-of-19 field goal attempts entering the game for the Falcons, who won the game 20-13.
Elsewhere the San Diego Chargers built a 23-point first-half lead and just held on to beat the Indianapolis Colts 23-21 in an epic clash. Colts’ Adam Vinatieri missed a 29-yard field goal with 91 seconds to play.
It was only the second time in his career that Vinatieri has missed a field goal under 30 yards in the fourth quarter.
Green Bay’s Brett Favre threw three touchdown passes as the Packers demolished Minnesota 34-0. Favre joined Dan Marino as the only NFL passers with more than 60,000 yards.
Shayne Graham kicked a career-high seven field goals to lift the Cincinnati Bengals to a 21-7 victory over the Baltimore Ravens in a battle of struggling AFC North Division rivals.

Denver Broncos took advantage of four turnovers to post a 27-11 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Jay Cutler passed for 192 yards and a touchdown as the Broncos (4-5) won for only the second time in the last seven games.
Donovan McNabb threw for four touchdowns as the Philadelphia Eagles rallied for a 33-25 victory over the Washington Redskins.
Buffalo rookie Marshawn Lynch ran for a touchdown and a two-point conversion as the Bills won 13-10 in Miami.
Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Tennessee Titans 28-13 in Nashville to move into a second-place tie with them in the AFC South.
The Pittsburgh Steelers rallied from a 15-point deficit to manage a 31-28 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
And Marc Bulger passed for 302 yards and two touchdowns to lead the St Louis Rams to their first victory of the season, 37-29, over the New Orleans Saints.
