England beat India by 70 runs in the second one-day international at The Oval yesterday. Victory gave England an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

England, after losing the toss, made 307 for five, with Andrew Flintoff scoring 99 and Paul Collingwood 79 not out.

Their stand of 174 was a fifth wicket record for England in a one-day international and came after the team had slumped to 105 for four.

England fast bowler Darren Gough took four for 50 to be left on 199 one-day international wickets and left-arm spinner Ashley Giles three for 26 as India were dismissed for 237 with 21 balls left.
