As we waited outside the Kilkenny dressing room for Derek Lyng to appear last month, their spare hurleys were lined up against the wall.

The Cats had pulled off a first home win of the year over Limerick, a most welcome one that ensured any threat of relegation from Division 1A was well and truly banished.
