Walsh poised for Clonmel four-timer

RUBY WALSH has a strong hand at Clonmel this afternoon, headed by Psycho in the Comeragh Beginners Chase.

Walsh poised for Clonmel four-timer

He’s a smart horse when on song and, if putting his best foot forward, has the ability to outclass this opposition.

Tony Martin's nine-year-old goes well fresh and has been rested since finishing a disappointing seventh behind the impressive Sports Line at Navan back in November.

The surface was very testing that day and the drying ground now will work on his favour. Prior to Navan, Psycho showed his true colours when beating Healys Bar three lengths into second over flights at Punchestown.

Walsh teams up with The Corby Glenn in the Margaret's 50th Celebration Handicap Chase and he is fancied to defy top wight.

The champion jockey was also in the plate when The Corby Glenn strolled to a ten lengths success at Fairyhouse and a rise in the weights of 10lbs was fair enough!

Walsh has two other possibilities in Pozyc (Powerstown Maiden Hurdle) and Tijuana Dancer (Slievenamon Maiden Hurdle).

Pozyc has been absent since finishing runner-up three times in-a-row as a two-year-old and clearly has plenty of ability. This looks a weak contest and, hopefully, the market will speak in his favour.

Tijuana Dancer’s heat looks even worse, although he is a moderate horse. Nevertheless, the Desert Prince gelding is entitled to the nod, on the basis of being in contention when parting company with Robbie Colgan three from home in the race won by Mubrook at Navan.
