This week McCarthy’s managerial acumen; Arsenal’s miss the old guard; Chelsea do a United to Arsenal; Sky Sports resume normal scouse service; Brit media out in force this week about Terry; Getting tired of the same old Wenger; Glazers are killing United; Pool need to do the proper thing and get Hiddink; Not a bad Euro draw; Mancini losing the plot; Liverpool’s season takes a turn for the best at last.

MICK McCarthy's managerial acumen must be taken in to consideration once again following the recent attempts to sign Hull's Stephen Hunt. Firstly what has changed since last summer when he bought Kevin Doyle from Reading for a reported ÂŁ8 million (a bit over the odds perhaps?). Hunt was the same player then as he is now. A bit of judicious bargaining and one presumes Hunt and Doyle could have been bought for ÂŁ9m and certainly no more than ÂŁ10 million. Instead he was prepared to pay ÂŁ5 million in the recent window . . . hardly wise business, football or financial. Secondly what made him think that Hull would ever sell Hunt at this time? Hunt is:
* a folk hero in Hull
* the club's leading scorer (and Ireland's leading Premiership scorer) despite playing in mid-field.
* Hull's dead ball expert
* the driving force behind the Hull fight to stay in the Premiership . . .
A case of mad-Mick striking again for whom the bacon slicer is whirring again.
Your case against McCarthy seems to be rather undermined by your case for Hunt, Jack.
