Rely on versatile Valain
The nap falls on Valain, partnered by Nina Carberry for in-form Charlie Swan, in the Eddies Hardware Race at Bellewstown.
This versatile sort seems equally at home on the level, over flights and fences and should at least go close.
The last time the selection ran on the flat was at Dundalk back in February, far from disgraced in finishing three lengths runner-up behind Al Eile.
His latest appearance was over hurdles at Down Royal 12 days ago when he was a desperately unlucky loser.
Returning from a little break, Valain looked all over a winner heading down to the last, but hit the obstacle hard and was eventually run out of it and beaten a neck by Ireland’ Call.
Liam Burke has enjoyed a memorable week, the highlight coming when his King Keano landed a massive morning-price and on-course gamble at Stratford on Tuesday.
This evening Burke sends lightly-raced Felix Da Housecat on the journey to Co Meath to contest the D Hotel Maiden hurdle and the six-year-old might prove good enough.
He hasn’t been seen since last September, catching the eye with a third behind Jackieandy and Beneath The Radar at Tralee. This is a particularly weak contest and Burke showed with King Keano he’s well able to produce then in solid shape, following an absence.
Tommy Stack’s Marcus Galerius could be the answer to the James Curran Memorial Auction Maiden. He’s run three ordinary races, once over six furlongs and twice at five, but maybe this mile is what’s required!
