Angry Fans

OUR football correspondent LIAM MACKEY is back in top form and full of energy.

He casts his eye over your comments and gives his own critical analysis of the

goings on throughout the world of football. You may agree with him or then again

you may not. This week Kaka brings a bit of sanity to football; Ipswich fans “anti

modern football”; ITV camera work appalling; Mascherano up to old antics;

Pennant fails to deliver at previous clubs; Beckham to stay on at Milan; Fergie

misquotedn on FA Cup replays; Little interest in FA Cup; Liverpool and Rafa rant;

Pool are still in the hunt considering all the backstabbing; Court case is motivating

Gerrard.

The Letter of the Week goes to Liam Kelly, Dubin. Get in touch with

your postal address and our incredible prize will be winging its way to you.

SKY

TV, Setanta, foreign ownership, transfer fees, players wages, ticket prices, Manchester

City, fans not being able to enjoy football these days as much as before, Players

out of touch with the working man compared to the 1950s and 60s. These all seem

to be proclaimed as the problems with football these days. I agree to a certain

extent, but Kaka has showed football to be worth more than money and brought a

smile to my face not only because he turned down City but because of the way he

conducted himself, claiming he wanted to grow old at Milan. Kaka showed his intentions

within a couple of hours. When being interviewed he always seemed to come across

as a very level-headed intelligent footballer and he has proved this in my opinion.

What a class act Kaka is. Let’s hope more modern day footballers follow his

lead.

OUR SHOUT:

First Obama, now Kaka - those saints just keep on marching in. Not that I'm suggesting

your own allegiance has coloured your view, Shane.

YOU all might have missed

this because of ITV and Setanta’s cursory coverage of the fourth round of

the FA Cup but among the 6,000 Ipswich fans who visited Stamford Bridge were a

group who unveiled a large banner at the Shed End proclaiming that they were “anti-modern

football.” As someone said, can we expect them to take their (no doubt leather-laced)

football elsewhere and resign from the football league? I didn’t notice Ipswich

fans boycotting the chance to go to Chelsea; in fact there was a row because they

wanted more tickets than the FA say are entitled for away clubs. Football supporters

complaining about the modern game is a bit like sailors complaining about the

sea. If you don’t like it, don’t go on it.
