It’s a universally known unwritten rule in sport. You never say something that your opponents can pin on their dressing room wall and use as motivation. This goes from international sport down to U12 board games. 

The Scots didn’t get the memo last week. True to form, they decided to give it the big one, with full-back Blair Kinghorn firmly of the opinion they would end Ireland’s 16-game winning streak last Saturday. The quote was hardly pinned to the dressing room wall, but we can take from the not-so-subtle hints in Peter O’Mahony’s post-100th cap interview that it did come up a few times during the week.
