Patrick Horgan: Kiely's Limerick have seen it all so Cork may need to find goal touch

Was Cork's lack of goal opportunities against Tipp a worry? It’s a slight concern.

Cork didn’t get any goals last weekend against Tipperary, and they didn’t really create any clear-cut goal chances over the course of the game. Alan Connolly got a glimpse of goal in the second half and took a swipe with one hand, but it was a half-chance at best.

Is that lack of goal opportunities a worry? It’s a slight concern, maybe. If you’re hitting 29 points, which Cork did in Thurles, that’s a handy score, but in general it’s very difficult for teams to win by just hitting points. If you don’t manage a goal or two it’ll catch up with you eventually - it wasn’t an issue for Cork last weekend but this Sunday against Limerick, and in the rest of the Munster Championship games, I think they’ll need goals.
