The only thing new owners are going to have to do is make sure they know all the lyrics to the hit Kingfishr song ‘Killeagh’. With an address like 17 Cois Abhainn (by the river) in Killeagh they’ll surely be called upon to get this song playing for guests.

Everything else is good to go really — a brand new kitchen, solar panels, upgraded Heat Recovery Ventilation, triple glazed windows, and a cobblelock driveway to the front. The decor is fresh and still smartly neutral enough to allow new owners use it as a backdrop for their own nice things.

“It’s really lovely here and has been maintained so nicely,” points out Adrianna Hegarty of Hegarty Properties. The current owners are downsizing from this four-bedroom, three bathroom detached house and there’s good interest already from families and first-time buyers — some of whom already live in the area and have been keeping an eye out for properties in this 2007 development.

The river Dissour and the woods of Glenbower, already popular and made famous in ‘that song’ are within easy walking distance and handily there’s a lovely playground close by too. A creche and primary school, also within walking distance, mean some key practicalities are covered.

VERDICT: Pitch-perfect family home that hits all the right notes. With its energy upgrades and ‘new house’ feel, the only thing left to do is move in and press play.

There's a real possibility that new owners here won’t work up too much mileage on the moving van — while there’s first-time-buyer interest there’s also interest from people keen to downsize within the Classes Lake development.

No 34 The Willows in Classes Lake is in great decorative condition and a lot of the ‘boring’ work has been done... all bedrooms have built-in wardrobes, a new driveway was laid in 2021 and the house is fully alarmed too. Built in 2003, a new kitchen and new windows and doors were also installed just five years ago. Two of the bedrooms upstairs are doubles and the main one is ensuite.

The back garden is neat as a pin with patio, grass, and a Barna shed.

The 24-hour bus route at the entrance to the development gets great use and with immediate access onto the Ballincollig bypass too it’s handy for getting to Bishopstown, CUH, and the city centre, notes Tirza Hourihane of Sherry FitzGerald. “You’ve got a great balance of living and bedroom accommodation throughout,” says Ms Hourihane.

VERDICT: A text-book example of a ‘turnkey’ home in an accessible location.

What an auspicious address — and No 1 Castle Meadows is definitely in a prime spot within this Skehard Rd development. This good-sized four-bedroom detached house is “close to everything, it’s a great location”, notes Stuart O’Grady of Sherry FitzGerald.

It is ready to move into and there’s plenty space for a family, with two living rooms, a kitchen/dining room, and a sun room downstairs. There are French doors from one living room to a paved patio area and the sun room has French doors leading to the rear garden.

Upstairs, three of the four bedrooms are doubles, and the main bedroom is en suite. The large attic is currently accessed by a Stira from the landing and prospective buyers could already be thinking about converting this.

At the front, a paved driveway has off-street parking for several cars. The walled front garden has mature shrubbery and there’s gated access to the rear on either side of the house.

It’s only 60m from the 202 bus stop linking from MahonPoint to the city centre.

VERDICT: A great combo of immediate comfort and long-term potential.

A 'goldilocks’ property here — this five-bed red-brick house at 19 Kingsford Park in Grange is in a secluded cul-de-sac with a green so it’s quiet enough for families but is close to all the action.

“You could nearly say this is the park that nobody knows about, it’s at the back of Grange Heights and is quite secluded and this is a lovely solid family home,” says Timothy Sullivan of Timothy Sullivan & Associates.

There’s great curb appeal here with mature gardens with off-street parking to the front and a good-sized back garden.

And the red-brick (on all sides of this detached house) gives a lovely homely and warm look.

A garage conversion/extension around 25 years ago gave a decent sized utility room which is unusual enough in houses dating to the early 1980s.

All five bedrooms are upstairs so there’s plenty room for a family members to claim space of their own downstairs with two good-sized living rooms as well as the kitchen/dining area.

There are several primary schools within a kilometre and a choice of secondary schools just a bit further along. Bus stops with routes through Grange to Douglas and town are only 300 metres away too.

VERDICT: Well maintained with an elegant red-brick exterior — a perfect blend of seclusion and accessibility.
