With the Cork Opera House celebrating its 170th birthday this year, there’s lots going on to mark the occasion, including a very special commission. Cork-based glass artist Sophie Longwill has been tasked, through a partnership between Fleetwood Paints and Sample-Studios, to create a permanent artwork for the beloved venue. The work, to be unveiled later this year, will honour the Opera House’s legacy as a living, breathing cultural hub. This is a commission rooted in community, heritage and contemporary creativity — and a reminder of just how vibrant Cork’s artistic future looks.
