A cheerful bank-holiday scene by Kernoff at Dolan’s auction

Art and antique auction is full of interesting, mostly contemporary paintings, writes Des O’Sullivan.

A cheerful 1930s bank-holiday beach scene, painted on Killiney Beach by Harry Kernoff long before there was a May bank holiday in this country, is the catalogue cover lot for Dolan’s art and antique auction at Kelly’s Resort Hotel in Rosslare at 2pm tomorrow.

This is a varied sale of mostly Irish contemporary paintings and a selection of antique furniture, collectibles, silver, rugs, and books. More than 300 lots will go under the hammer.
