Plans for major development in Carrigtwohill including 75 homes lodged with council

The latest application seeks to add 75 homes to a site along Station Road, where permission has already been secured by the Dutch property giant for a total of 714 new units

A new mixed-unit development comprising 75 homes and three retail/commercial units has been lodged with Cork County Council.

Developer Bam Property Limited is seeking planning permission for a new scheme on a 1.7 hectare site on Station Road and Castlelake Link Road in Carrigtwohill.

The latest application seeks to add 75 homes to a site along Station Road, where permission has already been secured by the Dutch property giant for a total of 714 new units, comprising a mix of apartments, duplexes and houses.

Bam received permission for more than 700 homes in 2023, making it one of the largest ever housing developments in East Cork.

The proposed development consists of the construction of 60 houses comprising 13 three-bedroom semi-detached units and 47 two-bedroom detached, semi-detached and terraced units.

The proposed development also includes a four-storey mixed-use building fronting onto Station Road, which provides the three retail/commercial units at the ground floor level with 15 one-bedroom apartment units on the upper floors.

Vehicular access to the proposed development would be provided via two entrances from the existing Castlelake Link Road (L-3607) to the north.

The plans also provide for amendments to the public realm upgrades permitted in the Carrigtwohill Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF) Initiative, comprising the realignment of a permitted cyclepath and footpath on Station Road, to accommodate a set-down area to serve the proposed mixed-use building..

Cork County Council are due to decide on the plans by May 11, 2026.
