Carrigtwohill house with its own garden, yet it’s as affordable as an apartment
When it had been on the market for just three days, bidding on No 5 Hazelcourt, Castlelake in Carrigtwohill went €5,000 above the guide of €175,000.
Auctioneer James Colbert of Colbert & Co Estate Agents says most of the interest in the modern two-bed mid-terraced house is coming from first-time buyers — although he has had a bid from an investor.
“It’s a rental property which has recently been repainted and is in excellent condition,” he says, adding that one of the main attractions for the young couples who have looked at it, is that it’s as affordable as an apartment, but is a house with a back garden.
Built in 2004, the mid-terrace house has 850 sq ft of living space and a C1 energy rating.
Off the hallway at the front is a guest WC as well as a modern kitchen with cream units and laminate worktops.
To the rear, there’s a laminate-floored living/dining room with a gas fire and double doors.
The first floor has two en-suite carpeted bedrooms including one with a walk-in wardrobe. To the rear there’s a long back garden with a small shed.
Located on the Cork side of Carrigtwohill, the property is one and a half kilometres from the village, two from the train station and around eight and a half from the Dunkettle Roundabout and the Lee Tunnel.
Mr Colbert says Carrigtwohill is increasingly popular for lettings and sales due to proximity to Cork city and nearby pharmaceutical companies.
The most recent sale in Hazel Court recorded by the Property Price register was that of No 1, a three bed end of terrace which sold for €190,000 last year.
