Trading up: Blackrock, Cork €225,000
There has been lots of work done to well-set 1930s home Hazeldene, on the city end of the Old Blackrock Road in Cork — but you’d be itching to take a paintbrush, a lawnmower and a few quid more to it now to do it full justice.
A new-to-market arrival last week with agent Andrew Moore, who guides at €225,000, it should prove a viewing hit and bid away quickly, given the lack of supply on this spring’s market.
It’s down primarily to location within a doddle of a walk to the city’s amenities, its older house character, a decent sized site, and a south-facing back garden.
In fact, Hazeldene is a bit of a cracker. Money has been spent on the unseen stuff, such as insulation, wiring, reslabbing ceilings and some hardwood flooring, which at least you can see, but there’s scope to really take it up a notch decoratively and more in new ownership, keeping features like cast iron bath, terrazzo hall floor and original fireplaces.
At present it’s got a single story old fashioned rear kitchen extension, and side garage, so it could make for quite a funky extension project now or in the future too, given its sunny rear aspect.
Don’t hang about, because it won’t.
