Manageable buy for modest money

Tommy Barker reports on the appeal of No 7 O’Brien’s Terrace, a short walk from Midleton

Manageable buy for modest money

In nice, smart order, within a short walk of Midleton town centre and opposite a co-ed primary school, No 7 O’Brien’s Terrace is an interesting, manageable buy for those who want a house and private outdoor space, as opposed to an apartment.

As handy for older buyers trading down, or trading in to town, as for first time buyers, the 1,040 sq ft end-terrace home on Connolly Rd is guided at e110,000 by Clare O’Sullivan of Savills, who describes it as ‘deceptively spacious,’ and who says it has scope for up to four bedrooms.

Upgraded, and with a lapsed planning for even more space, the early 1900s home has off-street parking in front, inside old limestone walls, plus there’s a large, fully enclosed concrete yard to the back, although access to it has to be through the house itself.

It has got a front living room, the kitchen/dining room is also to the front, there’s a study or narrow fourth bedroom, and three other bedrooms towards the rear, plus shower room. Work done already includes gas central heating and double glazing.

VERDICT: The plans previously done up for an extension show what else can be done with this, but at 1,040 sq ft, there’s already enough for a single or couple, a few minutes away from Main St.
