Paraffin fashion move
Lisney have reserved 39 Princes Street, a double-fronted shop near the English Market entrance vacated last year by Enable Ireland and which was, for previous decades, Mackeys delicatessen.
It’s been taken by second-generation Tralee clothes retailers the Boyle family for another in their expanding chain of men’s fashion shops called Paraffin, and has 1,500 sq ft retail/stock space.
The brand Paraffin adds fuel to a Cork range of menwear that has included Gasoline and Diesel. Other men’s wear shops nearby include Cronins, Savilles, Fat Face, Gentlemen’s Quarters, Con Murphy and a range at Opera Lane amongst others.
Lisney’s Margaret Kelleher had sought a rent of c €65,000 for No 39. It has been taken on a long lease.
Meanwhile, Savills estate agents have a tenant lined up for the adjoining No 38 Princes Street, likely to be a food-related occupier, and Lisneys are close to terms on the sale of No 36-37 Princes Street, a former Spar shop, offered during July for €650,000.
Finally, Savills have secured a cool new tenant for 7 Cook Street/corner of Oliver Plunkett Street.
Wexford-based ice-cream gelato company Scúp took up occupancy of the 400 sq ft unit previously home to Susan Charles women’s fashion.
They opened as the sun came out for September, notes agent Lia Dennehy of Savills, and have been trading very successfully in their week or so. A rent close to the c €35,000 sought has been secured, it’s understood. Scúp are looking for other Irish opportunities.
