Show building on past success

TEN thousand people flocked to Millstreet during a dismal November weekend last year and this year, the Self-Build, Extend and Renovate Show expects that number to increases.

“There has never been a better time to self-build,” says Clive Corry of Selfbuild Irl Ltd, “and self-builders in Ireland are a breed apart. They want a house which suits them, in a place that suits them and their mortgage requirements are not high.

“The average self-build loan to value ratio is only 60% and the cost of borrowing is at its lowest for years.”

And with most of the building activity in the country now coming from the self-build sector, it’s no surprise that the number of exhibitors has also increased this year, says Corry.

“We have more than 140 exhibitors across a broader range including architects, builders, bespoke furniture makers, kitchens and finance and mortgages.”

The Self-Build Extend and Renovate Exhibition runs this weekend at the Green Glens Arena, Millstreet, Co Cork.
