Bungalow in development hotspot gets better with age
Back then, Killumney was pure village in feel; now it is a bit of a hot development spot thanks to the reliefs brought by the Ballincollig bypass, which puts it within a few minutes’ reach of the western suburbs and Ballincollig itself.
No 15 is a 1,800 sq ft family home, in the same family’s ownership from day one, but it has been regularly invested in and upgraded by its occupants, says estate agent Malcolm Tyrrell of Cohalan Downing Associates.
He guides this detached home on a very mature and private site of one third of an acre at €650,000.
Recent upgrades include a modern painted kitchen with black granite worktops and tiled floor, with a bevy of integrated appliances. The bathroom also features lots of expensive tiling and marble.
The lounge has two windows facing the front gardens, while the separate living room has French doors to the rear garden, as well as a good fireplace. Both reception rooms are well-sized, and have recessed lighting and corniced ceilings.
There’s also a utility room, guest cloakroom, and, in all, four bedrooms, all carpeted, as is the entrance hall, and several of the bedrooms have large picture windows with views to make you want to get out in the fresh air.
Location is just a mile from Killumney village, and the gardens are landscaped front and rear, while the house has oil heating and PVC double glazing. “It is a ready-made trading up option, a really fine home for a family,” says Mr Tyrrell.
