Laharne Lodge with views of Bantry Bay
Built in 1936, the house at pretty Ballylickey was a former family home of singer and teacher Sean Ó Sé, the man who'll always be associated with the classic, rousing song An Puc Ar Buile the mad puc goat.
It was 'the Pucker Ó Sé's' family home in the earlier half of the 1900s, where he grew up with his parents Con and Peg who were both teachers at nearby Coomhola.
It has since changed hands once or twice, leaving Ó Sé hands in 1961 for £2,750, acquiring the name Laharne Lodge along the way. The current owners are the Craigie family who had a hotel in Castletownbere and who bought and modernised Laharne Lodge.
It is a solid, comfortable prosperous looking home on a private and wooded one-acre site, on the inland side of the Bantry Bay at 'Golden Mile' Ballylickey, with views of Bantry Bay.
John O'Neill of Celtic Properties Real Estate Alliance is handling the sale of the four bed (one en suite) house, and gives it a €415,000 guide price.
It has two reception rooms, good kitchen, conservatory, and separate home office, and has been renovated to a high standard.
