New apartments, many aimed at the student accommodation market up to nine storeys in height, have dominated recent new developments, but other schemes will ensure the west stays awake on other fronts as well.

Plans for a new 182-bed Jurys Doyle hotel and 303 apartments and other residential units were outlined last week by the hotel group and by Riga Ltd/O’Callaghan Properties for the Western Road in a long-overdue revamp of the riverside hotel site: buildings from three to nine storeys tall have been proposed for the five residential blocks.
