Tairin a tasty opportunity
The five bed detached house is in a cul de sac called The Orchards, off the Glasheen Road in Cork city.
It has a €530,000 price guide with Aoife Long of recently-formed auctioneering company Powell and Long, and she says it may be bought and upgraded, extended or even demolished and its site redeveloped.
The site size is about a fifth of an acre, and subject to planning approval, could take a cluster of townhouses which would add to its value going forward.
The Orchard dates back to the building of the Georgian architectural residential gem Wellington Square on militarily-titled Magazine Road, built for a regiment of the British army, and according to Aoife Long the surviving orchards, currently being gardened, are held in trust for the residents of Wellington Square.
The house Tairin is detached, with five/six bedrooms and in reasonable order in an enclave of perhaps a half a dozen homes which keep the Orchard name alive.
“It can be either bought by a family for a well-built large home or alternatively converted to townhouses,” she notes, and says its current accommodation includes three reception rooms, kitchen, utility, a study, decking to the back rear, with a large garden and parking for up to five cars in front.
It has main services, and a recently added central heating system.
