Parochial house with lake views

BUILT in the early part of the 20th century by a Major Lefroy, this Edwardian redbrick on the shores of Lough Derg, was renamed St Flannan’s when it was bought in trust for the Bishop of Killaloe in 1954 and has been used as a curates’ and parish priests’ house since then.

Now, no longer needed by the parish, the property is up for sale with Harry Brann Auctioneers, Killaloe, who give it a guide price of €1.1 million.

The parochial house is a substantial residence with five bedrooms, a number of reception rooms and an acre and half of private grounds.

The views take in Lough Derg and the property is just a short walk to the village, which means it will be eyed up by weekenders as well as locals.

An impressive trophy property, the house comes with lots of original features but will nonetheless need some work to bring it up to today’s standards.
