Letter to the Editor: Well done to the people and experts in handling crisis
We can do it: 'To all you families who are suffering the loss of a loved one, so dignified in your grief, I say you are in my thoughts and in the thoughts of others countrywide and worldwide.'

We are living in an unprecedented time in history — the coronavirus pandemic has hit the world and we are all part of it.

A world united in anguish! Fine Gael, you have been phenomenal in your dealing with this uncertainty.

I commend you Leo Varadkar, Simon Harris, the panel of medical advisers, and the frontline staff for their response in handling this pandemic. You have saved lives!

You address the most vulnerable members of our society. The living and the dying, the sick, the elderly, the young people, the homeless, people with disabilities, members of the Travelling community, victims of domestic abuse, lone parents, school-goers, the employed, and the unemployed, just to mention some.

I commend all you volunteers who have circulated food to the less well off.

I want to give a very big thanks to you, the frontline staff, each and every one of you. You go to work every day to care for those who need it most.

Thank you for your commitment and care during this challenging time.

To all you families who are suffering the loss of a loved one, so dignified in your grief, I say you are in my thoughts and in the thoughts of others countrywide and worldwide.

Ireland, you are a wonderful place to live in. I feel delight in my heart for being Irish. What a country!

People, selfless in their giving, abundant in friendship, love, and support.

I commend you, Irish people, both home and abroad, you have saved lives by following the guidance of the Government — staying at home, cocooning, practising hand hygiene, and sneeze and cough etiquette.

Today I ask Irish people, at home and abroad, to stay positive, you are doing brilliant, you are saving lives.

It will be worth it in the end! Stay home and stay safe!

Thank you with love.
