Readers Blog: President Higgins will slay the Dragons
The exercise of Trumpesque businessmen dragons seeking nominations to reside in Áras an Uactharáin is beyond bizarre.
Have our county councillors who are nominating these dragons not drawn a scintilla of a similarity between Dragon businessmen seeking presidential office and the fiasco of President Trump’s shambolic White House?
It’s absurd — our President has done a great job. The exercise leading into a race for the Áras is democracy for the sake of it! President Higgins will slay the Dragons who are only taking part because:
A) they have the means to do so financially and B) as part of a self-congratulatory publicising advertising initiative for there own business interests.
President Michael D Higgins’s integrity stands head and shoulders above the other potential candidates and at close to 70% in opinion polls.
Might I suggest I’ve more political experience in my left little finger due to my experiences as a tally man at election counts for over 25 years than these dragons who, like mythical dragons, will be found to be full of hot air.
Our current Uachtaráin is our nation’s Dragon slayer who will slay these tiresome self-applauding dragons politically... Let’s #KeepthePoet
