A shot in the dark

IT HAS been reported (Irish Examiner, October 7) that the Irish Medical Organisation has warned that, as a form of ongoing protest from October 31, its GPs will not collect vaccines from health boards which don’t have a courier system. It appears “the issue of transporting dangerous substances is not a new one”.

What makes vaccines dangerous, and how are dangerous vaccines rendered harmless so they become “safe and effective” when injected into babies and adolescents, as the IMO keep reminding us?
