But that fattened fowl was a mighty long time in the offing, feeding down on the farm, and running wild to its heart’s content. Its very contentment was what finally gave it its sweetness.

Fed the very best titbits at the farmhouse door, it pecked and picked in the daylight hours, and never wanted for much.
