AFTER the Brian Murphy case in Dublin, the Magnus Forsmark ase in New Ross and — oh, yes — the McCartney case in Belfast, kicking people to death while drunk in Ireland is basically OK.

That the victim has an impeccable reputation clearly doesn’t matter in this Kafkaesque legal system. Well, I have a good friend of impeccable reputation who is thinking of beating her husband to death after some severe provocation.

Could I arrange for her to get the same judges? The corpse doesn’t get a second chance, but it seems important that the perpetrators do.
