Church has an ulterior motive on AIDS issue

RÓNÁN MULLEN'S column (Irish Examiner, January 26) on the Catholic Church's stance on the use of condoms in the battle to combat AIDS is the most astonishing feat of self-deception I have read for a long time.

Church has an ulterior motive on AIDS issue

Apparently criticising the Catholic church for continuing to oppose the use of condoms reveals a hidden agenda on the part of the 'liberal' media, etc. Those of us who feel that the church is incorrect in its stance are perhaps racist?

Furthermore, by criticising the church's opposition to condoms one reveals an ignorance of all the other AIDS prevention strategies, the issue of correct condom usage and the fact that condoms are not fail-safe.
