FF have the trappings but SF want the power

YOUR political editor Harry McGee astutely identified Fianna Fáil’s marriage difficulties in relation to Sinn Féin (Irish Examiner, June 19).

It would be almost incestuous for these two sweethearts to get into bed together, especially as the latter approach their republican duties with missionary zeal... a position, so to speak, which Fianna Fáil has been practising on the rest of the electorate with matrimonial regularity, but can’t be expected to impose on their own flesh and blood in Sinn Féin.

Birds of a feather they may be, but the featherdown quilt better symbolises the senior republican party as they approach their dotage.
