In response to the letter

Israel declared itself an independent state in May 1948, after a war that forced some 700,000 Palestinians into exile. In June 1967, Israel seized further Arab lands, including the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The UN Security Council passed Resolution 242, demanding an Israeli withdrawal. Israel, with US support, has resisted the demand to withdraw for the past 35 years. Israeli Defence forces have imposed a reign of Nazi-style terror on the citizens of Palestinian towns, villages and refugee camps. The Israeli Government supports the illegal Israeli settlements on Palestinian Lands. Yassar Arafat is the only democratically elected Arab Leader.

Perhaps Ms Smith should study her subject matter more closely.
