I REGALED your readers (Irish Examiner letters Dec 23, 2003) with the story of my trip to the men’s toilets in Cork’s Kent station with my two small sons.

I had the pleasure of revisiting these premises again recently to be welcomed by the same quagmire that is the public toilet area. I approached with trepidation and duly perched my two-and-a-half-year-old over a urinal.

I had to be mindful of my older son, who is three and a half, wandering towards any danger zones as we have never been on a tropical holiday and have never received any of the vaccinations for such trips.
