Labour and SF would make good allies

YOUR columnist Fergus Finlay engaged in a highly implausible fantasy in his column (Irish Examiner, August 2).

Could I suggest that, rather than talk up the possibility of an alliance between Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin, he ponders instead the remarkable similarity between the policies of his own Labour party and Sinn Féin?

For, on the economic front, the two parties are very similar indeed. Just as SF have supported increasing taxes on investment and jobs, so too has the Labour party favoured the doubling of capital gains tax and increasing employers’ PRSI.
