ROSSA Ó SNODAIGH (Irish Examiner letters, July 19) asserts that smokers are addicts and therefore should have ‘no choice’ regarding the scientifically unsound smoking ban.

Smokers suffer the jeers of the self-righteous

This is just the sort of intolerance and bias that we smokers have been suffering since the ban’s introduction.

If you add the jeers of non-smokers, the smug satisfaction of the self-righteous, the one-sided reporting on the medical knowledge of environmental tobacco smoke and a rigid, crusading minister you may begin to understand the deep-seated frustration of smokers.
