Smokers suffer the jeers of the self-righteous
This is just the sort of intolerance and bias that we smokers have been suffering since the ban’s introduction.
If you add the jeers of non-smokers, the smug satisfaction of the self-righteous, the one-sided reporting on the medical knowledge of environmental tobacco smoke and a rigid, crusading minister you may begin to understand the deep-seated frustration of smokers.
We only ask for understanding and compromise. Instead we are bombarded with false statistics designed to show that we are killing our fellow man.
The logic of Mr Ó Snodaigh’s case is to ban alcoholics from bars, sweet addicts from shops and motorists should be confined to main roads.
All materials and produce with elements that contain carcinogens such as coal, charcoal, diesel, tomatoes, plywoods, paint, chloroform (our water supply), and a large number of chemicals and plastics in common use should all be banned. Failure to comply with these crazy laws should include a €3,000 fine and, of course, a lifetime ban on entering the United States.
